This is for all of those working in Midtown Manhattan. If your days are anything like mine was today I know you are in need of a stiff cocktail or a cold beer. Tomorrow night you can head over to the Manhattan Cocktail Classic opening Gala for over 25,000 handcrafted cocktails!! But for today or any other day for that matter, why don’t you try out one of these…
The Irish Exit NYC - I chose The Irish Exit (located @ 978 2nd Ave corner of 52nd Street) first because they have an AWESOME special going on tonight and every Thursday — $1 sliders ALL day, their World Famous $1 mug night from 9pm-2am and according to their website $5 Three Olive Vodka Drinks during happy hour — count me in! Head there tomorrow night for $5 Burgers and 1/2 price happy hour from 6-9pm to wash it down.
But this is not just your average Irish pub, every night has another special, and how can you beat that? Mondays are $1 cheeseburger sliders for Beer Pong Monday, and they offer a free comedy show starting at 8pm every Tuesday accompanied by $4 beers & .$50 wings! (free comedy show, how cool is that?) Where the ladies at?! Every Saturday night you’ll receive FREE champagne at the door after 9pm, note to the men — this is only for the ladies — plus you might look a little silly sipping from a delicate flute glass.
Darbar Grill- You won’t find this one on any lists because it’s not widely known that this delicious fine Indian cuisine restaurant (located at 157 East 55th St b/w 3rd & Lex) also has an amazing happy hour! Every weekday Darbar Grill is offering $4 beers and $6 cocktails (they make the best Lychee Martini!). Plus you get a free appetizer to hold you over (and make sure you don’t fall off the stool
). Three of these martinis and I’m all set (and for just $18!), definitely a favorite happy hour hangout of mine.
Gyu-Kaku Midtown - Another unchartered happy hour spot is a well renowned Japanese BBQ restaurant (located @ 805 3rd Ave., 2nd Floor). Gyu-Kaku’s happy hour runs from Mon-Fri 2-6pm, and again from 9:30pm until closing and is also available every Saturday & Sunday from, 12-3pm. They’re offering up $5 apps, rice & noodle bowls and fresh salads plus 50% off all BBQ item favorites.
And don’t think we forgot about the most important part, the drinks! Start the night off with $2 shots, $5 sake, $3 beers, $5 cocktails and $5 wines. Wow, talk about getting your money’s worth. I’ve been meaning to make a trip to Gyu-Kaku Midtown for years now!
Third Floor Cafe - While we’re making our way through the International Cuisines (& drinks!) available in Midtown why not mention an awesome Korean bar serving up their delicious fried chicken. Tuesday nights at the Third Floor Cafe, (located @ 315 3rd Ave b/w 31st & 32nd St) $18 scores you unlimited beer and fried chicken until 8pm. That’s right, I said unlimited.
Don’t be thrown off, the building isn’t much to look at, then all of a sudden you find yourself in a hip lounge. But first you need enter an unassuming lobby and take the elevator to the third floor to find this well secluded Korean restaurant.
Rodeo Bar – Rodeo Bar (located @ 375 3rd Ave) really caught my eye with their $6 lime & strawberry margarita happy hour! Every day of the week from 4-9pm they serve up $6 ‘ritas (as I like to call them), $4 draft beers, & $4 wine specials. Not to mention their Recession Special (A can of PBR and shot of House Whiskey) for $7 available all the time! And if you’re hungry check out their Rodeo Happy Hour Bar Menu for some cheap Tex-Mex eats served until 2am!
Rudy’s Bar & Grill - This may not be a happy hour special per say but how can you beat FREE Hebrew National Hot Dogs served ALL THE TIME at Rudy’s Bar & Grill (located @ 627 9th Ave b/w 44th & 45th)! If you’re anything like me, you love your hot dogs. And on top of the free dogs their every day prices for draft & bottled beer range from $3-5 plus $4 booze from 8am (starting early huh?) to 5pm. Every. Day. Just those two points alone make this an awesome happy hour hang out. But to find out they’re in the works of opening an outdoor backyard section, the disturbing pig adorning the front door may have just stole my heart.
The list could go on and on, there are thousands of bars in the area but I wanted to list a special few *special* bars and restaurants that have amazing deals for the average Midtown Manhattan worker.
I know I could use a drink right now, how ’bout you? What’s your favorite Midtown happy hour hangout?
