Local Events for the Foodie in You: Thanksgiving Week!

Seriously, the holidays get me all giddy. I love being around family, hearing the laughter, the loud chatter and especially the food. I love cooking, smelling, eating with friends and family. There’s just something about this time of year, it’s pretty special if you ask me. For those of you who are sticking around this week (sorry I missed Monday’s events!) there will be lots to do.

Nov 22Wings & After Party @ Cana Y Cafe 565 W. 207th St. (b/w Vermilyea & Sherman Ave) from 5-10pm. What better way to wind down from a long day at the office than with some wings and drinks at Cana y Café Bar & Grill! The Washington Heights bar will be serving up 20 cent wings (yup, 20 cents!) from 5-10pm. Let the good times roll into the late night with an after party from midnight until 4 am, where they’ll be spinning Latin and pop music for your boogying pleasure!

Nov 23Great Harvest Pies Baking Class at The Institute of Culinary Education, 50 W. 23rd St. (b/w 5th & 6th Ave) at 2:30pm. Oh no—tomorrow’s Thanksgiving and you’re still more of a Sandra Lee than a Martha Stewart! Don’t worry, the Institute of Culinary Education is here to help with their Great Harvest Pies Baking Class! The class will teach you everything you need to know to craft flaky, delicious pies perfect for fall and your holiday table. With the institute’s help, you’ll be whipping up the likes of classic pumpkin, cranberry apple crumb, Southern pecan with a spicy crust, and a chocolate hazelnut tart in no time. We don’t know about you, but they had us at pumpkin! Snag a spot here to impress your friends and fam with your new badass baking skills!

You’ll learn what responsible farmers are doing to create environmentally-friendly produce that are not only good for your health, but tastes amazing too!
